New Mégane R.S.: prices released for the agile, efficient and versatile sports car

  • New Mégane R.S. 280hp manual gearbox with Sport chassis will be available from €37,600 and New Mégane R.S. 280hp EDC gearbox with Sport chassis from €39,400.

Paris, 8 January 2018 – New Mégane R.S. 280hp EDC gearbox with Sport chassis is available from €39,400 and New Mégane R.S. 280hp manual gearbox with Sport chassis is available from €37,600.

New Mégane R.S. comes packed with high-performance technologies. For example, the 4CONTROL four-wheel steering system is a world first in the high-performance sports hatch market. Thanks to 4CONTROL, the New Mégane R.S. chassis provides the very best in terms of agility, efficiency and stability. The four hydraulic compression stops, a technology inspired by the world of Rallying, improves the comfort of the suspension during everyday use. When adopting a sportier driving style, this technology filters out disruptions, provides additional damping and eliminates the effects of rebound, enabling optimum control of tyre-ground contact.

The wizards at Renault Sport Cars have worked their magic on the new 1.8-litre turbo engine, derived from the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The cylinder head has been redesigned thanks to the expertise of engineers from Renault Sport Racing, integrating a new cooling system, adding a twin air inlet to the turbocharger and with the noise from the exhaust system reworked. Compared to the previous generation of Mégane R.S., this 1.8-litre turbo engine comes with an extra 30Nm of torque. With torque now peaking at 390Nm, one of the best in class, New Mégane R.S. guarantees a comfortable, pleasurable driving experience.

The R.S. Monitor system has also been completely revised, with a more user-friendly layout and extended features. By gathering and summarising information from forty or so sensors spread around the car, it can display a wide range of settings in real time on the 8.7-inch R-Link 2 touchscreen tablet, such as acceleration, braking, steering wheel angle, operation of the 4CONTROL system, temperatures and pressures. Furthermore, the new R.S. Monitor Expert system, unprecedented in this market segment, lets you film your driving sessions and then overlay telemetry data.

The exterior design, geared towards delivering performance, strengthens the sporty feel of New Mégane R.S. with wings widened by 60mm at the front and 45mm at the rear, wing-mounted air extractors and a rear diffuser that has been designed to increase downforce.

In addition to its sporty features, New Mégane R.S. also boasts impressive versatility, making it perfectly suited to everyday use:

- Significantly improved suspension comfort
- 4CONTROL system, enabling any type of customer to experience sporty driving in a fun and relaxed manner
- A dozen or so driver aids (ADAS)
- Colour head-up display
- MULTI-SENSE system, along with a specific RACE mode (which allows you to disable the ESP)

New Mégane R.S. 280hp EDC gearbox will be available to order in February 2018. Orders for New Mégane R.S. 280hp manual gearbox will be open in spring 2018.
