Today, Dacia opens a new chapter in its history with the launch of All-New Spring, the brand's first 100% electric car.
A NEW R-EV-OLUTION
For 15 years, Dacia has been revolutionising the automotive world with its unique business model and by focussing on the fundamentals of affordable, contemporary vehicles.
In 2004, the Logan brought new cars back to the mass market. The Duster shook up the SUV segment. The recently renewed Sandero has led the European retail market for the past few years.
Today, Dacia starts a new chapter of its history with the arrival of the All-New Spring, the brand’s first all-electric model.
Dacia, a Groupe Renault brand, has access to the know-how and unique experience that the Groupe and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has accumulated over the past 10 years as pioneers of electric mobility.
All-New Spring is a r-EV-olution. As the cheapest electric car on the European market, electric mobility is now within reach of the many, not just the few.
Under its SUV look hides a city car with unrivalled space for 4 people and a simple yet reliable electric motor with a range of 230 km (WLTP combined) and 305 km on city roads (WLTP city).
The All-New Dacia Spring comes in three versions:
• A consumer version with pre-orders starting on March 20, 2021, and first deliveries in the Autumn 2021.
• A Business version, available as early as March 2021, for car-share and car rental companies as well as business fleets
• Lastly, ‘Cargo’, a full-utility model with no rear seats - ideal for last-mile delivery - will be on offer as of early 2022.
In offering an SUV-like, all-electric city car that meets nearly all customers' needs at an unbeatable price, Dacia is helping popularise electric mobility.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
AN ‘ELECTRIFYING’ CITY CAR WITH A TOUCH OF OFFROAD
Dacia’s first small city car, the All-New Spring changes the rules for ‘conventional’ electric cars. Its attractive off-road style hints at the car’s robustness and spacious interior.
AN SUV LOOK
Its assertive line is somewhat characteristic of SUVs: wide wheel arches, roof bars, reinforced front sill panels, rear skid plate, and high clearance (151 mm when empty). With its wide shoulders and rounded bonnet, All-New Spring feels as sturdy as it looks. Its reassuring silhouette gives a good idea of how spacious it is inside. And yet the All-New Spring is still very much a city car. It is quite compact: 3.73 m long, 1.58 m wide (excluding mirrors) and 1.51 m high (when empty and including roof bars).
A BOLD FRONT END
The All-New Spring doesn't go unnoticed. Its front end is full of personality with a ribbed bonnet, wide bumper, and tapered LED lights that carry the horizontal line through to the grill. The front grill on the All-New Spring is entirely filled in, a characteristic feature of electric vehicles. Contemporary in style, it features 3D patterns and houses the charge cover, which can be opened from inside the vehicle.
ORANGE IS THE NEW PACK
Full of character, the All-New Spring proudly dons its own look with the launch model including an exciting colour pack: mirrors, roof bars, door trim, and air intake rims are either all orange or just with orange highlights. Inside, the seat covers and the rims around air vents and the multimedia screen are orange, while the door panels are bright grey. With this exciting garb, electric mobility is packed with style and fun.
‘FLEXWHEEL’ WHEELS
The All-New Spring's hubcaps are aesthetically similar to the alloy wheels. This is made possible thanks to the Flexwheel system: the sheet metal rims are cut out to make room for the fitting of elegant rims. A smart solution that's both attractive and cost effective.
A DYNAMIC BACK END
The upper section of the rear end is a reminder that the All-New Spring is destined to be a city car, with its domed rear window, rounded headlight covers, and gentle curves. The lower section highlights the safety features of an SUV: the rear bumper is equipped with a robust unpainted shield and full-grey skid plate. The rear reflectors housed inside imitation air vents and the ribbed wings give the All-New Spring a much more dynamic feel.
A NEW LIGHT SIGNATURE
Rear optics are equipped with Dacia’s new Y-shaped light signature
INTERIOR DESIGN
UNRIVALED SPACIOUSNESS
The All-New Dacia Spring can comfortably fit four adults and has generous boot space.
ON-BOARD ROOMINESS
The All-New Spring’s compact exterior dimensions are true to its five-door city car style, however it comes with four full-sized adult seats inside. Thanks to the generous head room and leg room (100 mm), even people with larger frames can comfortably fit in the rear passenger seats. Moreover, the overall impression of roominess heightens the feeling of interior comfort. Front passengers have 23.1 L of storage divided between the large glove box, door panels, and centre console pocket. Rear passengers have seat-back storage pockets.
A CITY CAR WITH SPACE TO BOOT.
The boot provides best-in-class storage capacity: 270 dm3 VDA (excluding the under-boot compartment for the optional spare wheel) / 290 L. Stats worthy of the next segment up. The rear bench seat can be folded down for extra modularity. Under shelf loading capacity thereby reaches 620 L.
GENEROUS AMENITIES
Standard equipment includes all-electric variable-assist steering, manual air conditioning, remote central locking, four electric windows, automatic headlight illumination and the speed limiter (whose control is on the steering wheel).
A 3.5” digital display is located between the instrument dials.
Media Nav entertainment system and power mirrors are also available depending on the chosen level of finish.
A WELCOMING INTERIOR
The interior of the All-New Spring is functional. The door panels are in shiny black with a blue trim. The gear stick has been replaced by an easy-to-use chrome wheel with 3 positions: D (Drive), N (Neutral), and R (Reverse).
AN INTUITIVE AND EASY-TO-USE MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM
Available on select versions, the Media Nav multimedia system includes a 7” touch screen, navigation, DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible wired smartphone mirroring, Bluetooth, USB port, and auxiliary output. Voice recognition (via smartphone) activation is located on the steering wheel. With it, you can voice activate and control the iOS or Google wizard of the smartphone.
ENGINE AND RECHARGING
A SIMPLE AND RELIABLE ELECTRIC MOTOR
True to the Dacia philosophy, the All-New Spring is as affordable to buy as it is to use. Marketed at an unbeatable price, it comes with simplicity, versatility, reliability, and robustness. All perfect descriptors of its all-electric, low-cost maintenance engine with a range of 230 km WLTP and 305 km WLTP city cycle.
A RELIABLE AND ROBUST ENGINE
The 33 kW (44 hp equivalent) all-electric power engine is coupled with a 27.4 kWh battery. Operating without oil and with far fewer moving parts than on combustion motors (e.g. no transmission belt), the All-New Spring electric motor is simple, reliable and robust.
HASSLE-FREE CHARGING
The All-New Dacia Spring charges via a connector located behind the logo on the front grill. Controls to unlock the flap are located under the steering wheel inside the car.
When plugged in, the All-New Spring instrument panel displays the following information: active charge indicator, the current charge percent, time until full-charge, and the available range in kilometres given the current charge level.
To stop charging, the plug must first be unlocked by pressing the door-lock button located on the key and inside the car.
A PRACTICAL APP
Thanks to the free MY Dacia app, you can use your smartphone to check battery charge levels and remaining autonomy range, and locate your car, all in real time. When the All-New Spring is plugged in, you can use the app to turn on pre-entry climate control (air conditioning/heating), check up on recharge progress, and pause/resume battery charging.
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), you can choose to activate/deactivate the sending of private data thanks to a button on lower dash. The data used by MY Dacia app pertain primarily to the vehicle’s location and serial number.
FREEDOM OF CHARGE
For additional freedom, the All-New Spring comes with a wide range of charging options: a 220V domestic outlet or Green’Up socket with Flexicharger cable (mode 2); a 7.4 kW Wallbox with a unique cable (mode 3); or a 30 kW DC terminal with built-in charging cable.
The Li-ion battery charge time is:
• Less than one hour for 80% charge, and less 1.5 hours for a 100% charge on a 30 kW DC terminal
• Less than 5 hours for a 100% charge on a 7.4 kW Wallbox
• Less than 8.5 hours for a 100% charge on a 3.7 kW Wallbox
• Less than 14 hours for a 100% charge on a 2.3 kW domestic outlet
There are 200,000 self-service charge stations available throughout Europe, with 43,700 in the Netherlands, approximately 33,000 in Germany, and nearly 30,000 in France.
SAVE WHILE YOU DRIVE
Not only is the All-New Spring sold at an affordable price, it also affordable to drive: its TCO (Total cost of Ownership) is the lowest on the market, compared to both electric and combustion motors.
LONG LASTING
As is the case for all Dacia vehicles, All-New Spring meets Groupe Renault’s standards in quality, reliability, and durability. It has undergone more than one million kilometres of road tests (combined total) in all extreme weather and use conditions. All materials have been put through their paces during ‘torture tests’ to check for their durability. Battery performance and charging have also been tested at high and low temperatures.
AT THE WHEEL
A VERSATILE AND CONVENIENT CITY CAR
Thanks to its compact size and extensive battery life, the All-New Spring can be easily used in a wide range of situations so drivers can get full enjoyment out of the electric car experience.
ALL THE JOY OF ELECTRIC CARS
The electric motor is a joy to use: responsive acceleration (125 Nm of instant torque), no need to shift between gears, no vibration, silent to drive. Give in to the joys of electric driving as much as you desire because it is pollution-free and CO2-free.
EXTENSIVE BATTERY LIFE FOR PEACE OF MIND
Lightweight and compact, the All-New Spring has a maximum range of 230 km WLTP and 305 km WLTP City (approval cycle comprising only the urban part of the WLTP approved cycle).
This means the car can be used for a wide range of purposes in urban and peri-urban areas. Permanent regenerative braking recovers energy whenever the accelerator pedal is lifted.
No matter the circumstances, the range can be improved by up to 9% simply by pressing the ECO button on the centre console. ECO mode keeps power under 23 kW (instead of 33 kW) and the maximum speed under 100 km/h.
In Europe, on average, similar city cars cover 31 km every day. Based on this, the All-New Spring will only need to be charged once a week.
DRIVING FREEDOM
The All-New Spring’s electric engine means you are free to drive wherever you wish in city centres with engine-specific restrictions, even during peak pollution periods. You can also access free parking in many cities.
MANOEUVRING MADE EASY
With a reduced turning radius of 4.8 m, All-New Spring is perfect for narrow city roads. Its park assistance system – available on certain finishes – provides visual and audio aids thanks to three ultrasonic radars located on the rear bumper and a reversing camera that displays real-time images on the multimedia screen with visual guide lines overlaid.
AT EASE IN THE CITY AND BEYOND
The All-New Spring is a versatile all-electric car with well-balanced handling.
Combined with a high ground clearance of 151 mm (no load), its compact dimensions, a small turning radius of 4.8 meters make city driving and parking a breeze.
Its reliable mechanics, ease of use, autonomy and interior comfort mean you can use it numerous circumstances and even take it for a spin on country roads.
ON-BOARD SAFETY
Standard safety equipment includes: speed limiter, ABS, ESC, electronic braking distribution, 6 air bags, automatic lights, and automatic emergency braking. The latter activates as early as 7 km/h and uses the front-mounted radar to detect the distance to vehicles in front (be it stationary or moving). If a collision risk is detected, the driver given a visual and audio warning, then the system increases braking performance if the risk is still present when the driver brakes. If the driver does not brake enough or at all, the system adds additional or full power to the brakes. High tensile steel has been used to reinforce the body around the engine bay and passenger compartment (particularly at the B-pillar and door beams). A reinforced undercarriage protects the battery from unwanted impacts. To facilitate emergency services, it comes equipped with a disconnection system and quick access opening to access inside the battery.
DACIA SPRING BUSINESS
A PERFECT OFFER TO MEET NEW TRANSPORT NEEDS
In synch with the ongoing energy transition and changing regulations, mobility needs and solutions also need to evolve. Thanks to the Spring Business, Dacia offers fleet and car-sharing professionals a practical response to the current need for widely accessible sustainable mobility.
A BUSINESS-SPECIFIC VERSION
In Europe, average car-share use lasts 40 minutes, covering 8 kilometres. The all-electric, easy-to-use, reliable, and robust All-New Dacia Spring is a perfect fit for such use. Moreover, its purchase price makes it an affordable solution for car-sharing companies while still giving end-users what they expect.
Building on the expertise acquired with ZITY – Groupe Renault and Ferrovial car-share joint-venture operated in Madrid and Paris – Dacia has developed a specific version of Spring for the car-share market: the Dacia Spring Business.
It comes pre-equipped to pair with operator technology to facilitate smartphone localisation and remote unlocking.
A UNIQUE FINISH
The Dacia Spring Business is available in white or light grey, with blue accents on the roof bars. It comes equipped with parking aids (reversing camera and rear radar), black grained handles and mirrors for improved durability and 14” Flexwheels. Seats are made of black PET (durable, dirt resistant imitation leather) with blue stitching. The Dacia Spring Business has standard front and rear floor mats, and front door and boot sill protection. Inside the car, the car share operator system is accessible via wired smart phone mirroring (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) on the Media Nav navigation and media screen.
RELIABLE AND AFFORDABLE MECHANICS
Technology used in the electric motor is more reliable and costs less to maintain than a combustion motor. The Dacia Spring comes with a 3 year / 100 000 km guarantee and its battery is guaranteed for 8 years / 120 000 km.
LOW RUNNING COST
Electric, suitable for car-share, reliable, light, robust, and sold at an unbeatable price, the Dacia Spring Business will help operators reduce their overheads by at least 20% compared to a standard car.
Since Dacia Spring Business’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is the lowest on the market (electric and combustion cars combined), it is a perfect solution for car-share companies.
Mobilize, a brand dedicated to new mobility
Electric mobility is now part and parcel of our daily lives. For more than a decade, Groupe Renault has gained experience in electric mobility meaning it can now offer widely accessible electric transport solutions that meet a vast array of needs. In Europe, one in five electric cars has been designed by Groupe Renault. More than 30 000 people have been given specific training in electrical mobility.
With its Mobilize brand, Groupe Renault offers mobility solutions that are adapted to the changing expectations of consumers, companies and local authorities, and help tackle environmental issues and urban congestion. Shared electric vehicles is just one such solution.
With nearly 10 000 all-electric vehicles in a range of car-share projects, Groupe Renault is now European leader in electric car-share solutions. Drawing on Groupe Renault’s expertise in EV design and manufacturing, and its experience as operator (ZITY) and operator partner (Green Mobility, Fetch, Totem Mobi…), Mobilize is a preferred partner for public and private mobility providers.
Mobilize offers:
• Vehicles that are specifically designed for or adapted to mobility services (chauffeur, car-share, last-mile delivery), such as the Dacia Spring Business
• Easier fleet acquisition through financial services
• Optimized vehicle management thanks to mobility, data, and AI software platforms
• Battery and vehicle maintenance and recycling services
Since March 1st, 2021, all 504 of the E.Leclerc car rental branches have the Dacia Spring Business – an E. Leclerc exclusive. 3 000 units have been ordered.
DACIA SPRING CARGO
A TRUE COMPACT ELECTRIC UTILITY
Designed with professionals in mind, the Dacia Spring Cargo is an N1 approved utility vehicle that is compact, manoeuvrable, robust and affordable.
A SOLUTION FOR LAST-MILE DELIVERY
Last-mile delivery is the last link in the delivery chain, the final step before reaching the end customer. Given the large number and massive spread of delivery points, this is the toughest link in the delivery chain to manage and is therefore the most expensive. According to figures published by the CAS, in France, it accounts for about 20% of city traffic, 30% of road traffic, and 25% of greenhouse gas emissions.
Designed with professionals in mind, the Dacia Spring Cargo is an N1 approved true utility vehicle.
Compact, manoeuvrable, robust, and affordable, the Dacia Spring Cargo emits no pollution when on the road. It is a particularly suitable solution for the ‘last mile challenge’.
A CARGO CAPACITY OF 1 100 LITRES
The Dacia Spring Cargo is fitted with a boot that extends up to the rear bench seat, a plastic coating on the floor and on inner wheel arches, four securing loops (ISO 27956* standard) and a screened partition wall (ISO 27956* standard) to separate front passengers from the cargo area. The loading length of this specific version is 1,033 mm, with a volume of 1 100 litres and a payload of 325 kilos. *ISO 27956 applies to appropriate vehicle equipment for securing cargo in delivery vans with a loaded mass of up to 7<5 t. ISO 27956:2009 specifies the minimum requirements and test methods for securing the load reliably while driving to protect occupants from injuries caused by a slipping load.
A FULLY EQUIPPED VEHICLE
Available in white, the Spring Cargo comes with standard equipment including manual air conditioning, radio (with Bluetooth), USB plug and fixture for a telephone holder, automatic head light ignition, fabric upholstery, scratch resistant exterior handles and black grained mirrors, a 14” sheet metal wheel, door sill and trunk sill protection. For weight optimization reasons, this version does not have a spare wheel.
