Following a successful opening round for the Formula Renault FR-19, the Formula Renault Eurocup now heads to another motor racing monument: Silverstone (May 10-12). The young aspirants will try to confirm or reverse the first trends on one of the fastest tracks on the calendar.

The venue for the very first Grand Prix in the F1 World Championship in 1950 and Renault’s debut in the sport’s top category in 1977, Silverstone is a true test with its high-speed corners requiring total commitment.
On this track that has hosted some of the finest duels in Formula Renault history, the drivers and teams will benefit from another test day on Thursday to continue to fine-tune and perfect their understanding of the new car. The Formula Renault FR-19s will also boast personalized BRM watches on their sidepod wings, matching the liveries and colours of each team.
A quintet in order?
While all the competitors can challenge for the lead in the general classification before the Monaco round, five contenders already pulled away by just a little last month.
Victor Martins (MP Motorsport) comes to Silverstone with the lead. Fourth then second in Italy, the Renault Sport Academy driver made the most of his consistency, but now he really wants to win to build, as fast as possible, a gap to his pursuers.
With four drivers covered by two points, the chase group is led by Leonardo Lorandi (JD Motorsport). The Italian rookie was also consistent at Monza and is one point ahead of the first two race winners of the season, Alexander Smolyar (R-ace GP) and Ugo de Wilde (JD Motorsport), as well as Kush Maini (M2 Competition).
While Leonardo Lorandi and Ugo de Wilde are about to discover a new circuit, both can rely on their ability to adapt to offset the experience of their three rivals… And especially Kush Mani, the only member of the “Famous five” who has sprayed the bubbly at Silverstone!
Untapped potential
After confirming all his talent in qualifying at Monza, Lorenzo Colombo (MP Motorsport) hopes to convert his speed into a first win in the Formula Renault Eurocup. This is a goal shared by Oscar Piastri (R-ace GP), who had a contrasted weekend after being one of the men to beat during pre-season testing. Both will be serious contenders after finishing just off the podium last year at Silverstone.
The British fans, who always come out in droves, are counting on Frank Bird (Arden Motorsport) to extend the series of success for British drivers on their track, which was initiated by Jack Aitken and continued by Will Palmer and Max Fewtrell. On home soil, Arden Motorsport can also aim big with Patrik Pasma (Arden Motorsport) as the Finnish rookie has raced at Silverstone the past three years.
Very much on the attack in their debuts, rookies Federico Malvestiti (Bhaitech Racing), João Vieira (JD Motorsport) and Caio Collet (R-ace GP) have already put points on the board. Their objective is to do it again at Silverstone, but they will have to battle again with Yves Baltas (M2 Competition), Petr Ptáček (Bhaitech Racing) and Amaury Cordeel (MP Motorsport).
Learning process in progress
Leaving Monza empty-handed, Callan O’Keeffe (FA Racing by Drivex) wants to rely on his knowledge of the British track to score his first points of the season as well as the first for his team in the Formula Renault Eurocup. Still in the learning phase, his team mates Brad Benavides and Patrick Schott are aiming for the same result to reward the efforts of the Spanish squad headed by Fernando Alonso.
After a lack of success in Italy, Xavier Lloveras (Global Racing Service) will try to rebound to quickly find a place more in line with his expectations and ambitions. Like his rivals, the Spaniard was however able to see in Monza that the slightest mistake can prove costly in an extremely dense and competitive field!
Scheduled for Saturday at 13:30 and Sunday at 13:35, the two Formula Renault Eurocup races will be aired on the Renault Sport Series Facebook page and the Renault Sport YouTube channel.
