Soon to be in action in the French Junior FFSA Rallycross Championship and the Clio RX Trophy in the Catalan Rallycross Championship, Clio RX will continue its expansion by taking on a new surface in the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries from next winter!
Building on the sporting and commercial success of the Clio Rally, Clio Cup and Clio RX unveiled in 2019 and launched last year, Renault’s customer racing department is now accelerating the development of the Rallycross variant of its famous compact car.
The Clio RXs of the French Junior FFSA Rallycross Championship and Clio RX Trophy of the Catalan Rallycross Championship will take to the track in the spring followed by the ones entering the brand new Clio Ice Trophy starting in January 2022.
Organised within the two-wheel drive category of the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries, the Clio Ice Trophy will welcome Clio RX, as well as the Rally and Cup versions fitted with the RX conversion kit, for spectacular ice races on the Circuit Andorra Pas de la Casa.
Held over four rounds between January and February 2022, the Clio Ice Trophy will follow the discipline’s format with free practice, qualifying heats and the Finals A and B. Drivers entered in Clio RXs will be classified in both the Clio Ice Trophy and the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries two-wheel drive championship.
Renault will entrust the organisation of the Clio Ice Trophy to Circuit Andorra, the promoter who has helped the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries become a leader in the ice racing scene. Circuit Andorra and Renault will use their wealth of experience to guarantee sporting and technical fairness among the Clio Ice Trophy competitors.
As with the French Junior Rallycross Championship and the Clio RX Trophy, two drivers will be able to share the same Clio RX in the Clio Ice Trophy. More details about the Clio Ice Trophy calendar, rules and prize scheme will be unveiled soon.
