Already more than 20 drivers entered for the 2017 Formula Renault Eurocup!

The nine teams entered in the Formula Renault Eurocup are busily preparing their campaigns and the first announcements suggest 2017 will be one of the finest seasons ever. 23 drivers have signed on with the various squads three months before the start of the season at Monza on April 22nd.

Created in 1971, Formula Renault brings together the most promising talents of their generation at ten of the most prestigious European circuits, including Monaco and Pau. At the conclusion of the season, two competitors, including the series winner, will join the Renault Sport Academy and benefit from the means of the Renault Sport Formula One Team to further their careers.

With three months to go before the start of the season at Monza, a strong international field is under construction with nine nationalities and three continents already represented on the entry list.

Among the known commodities, Sacha Fenestraz will join two-time defending team champion, Josef Kaufmann Racing. He will take on other returnees wagering on continuity, including Will Palmer (R-ace GP), Henrique Chaves (AVF by Adrián Vallés) and Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing). SMP Racing has been very active during the winter placing Robert Shwartzman at R-ace GP and Alexey Korneev with Fortec Motorsports. Alexander Vartanyan will compete in his first full season with JD Motorsport.

Three members of the Red Bull Junior Team will be in action in the return of the Austrian program in Formula Renault. MP Motorsport will line-up two 2016 champions, Richard Verschoor, who took top honours in the SMP F4 NEZ and in Spanish F4, and Neil Verhagen, who won the F1600 Formula F. Dan Ticktum will race for Arden Motorsport, following his promising appearances in 2015.

Among the rookies will be China’s Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing), French F4 champion, and England’s Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing), who won the British F4 crown. Australia’s Maxwell (Tech 1 Racing), France’s Thomas Neubauer (Tech 1 Racing) and Mexico’s Raúl Guzmán (R-ace GP), third in F4 Italia and member of the Escudería Telmex, will also be on the opening grid of the season that will have at least 23 Formula Renaults at Monza.
