Boulogne-Billancourt, 02/10/2017 – In the first nine months of 2017, Groupe Renault passenger car and light commercial vehicle (PC + LCV) registrations in France increased 2.9%.
Passenger cars (PCs)
With registrations of 398,958 PCs at end-September (+2.6%), Groupe Renault recorded its strongest sales volumes in 6 years. Both brands posted increased volumes, with the Dacia brand setting a new sales record.
Renault posted its best PC performance in six years, with 309,706 registrations (+2.0%). With 89,252 registrations (+4.8%), Dacia once again set a new sales record in the French market, where it ranks as the number-five brand. Dacia even stands third in the PC consumer sales rankings, with Renault in the number 1 position. Sandero is the clear best seller in this market.
In terms of products, Clio remains the PC market leader in France, a position it has held for over seven years. Captur (7th), Sandero (8th), Megane (9th) and Scenic (10th) round out the top ten in the PC market.
Twingo, Clio, Talisman and Espace all lead their respective segments. Megane sales volumes were up 23.7% on end-September 2016.
ZOE remains the benchmark in the electric vehicle market, accounting for almost 65 % of electric PC sales in France, with more than 12,000 registrations at end-September, a rise of over 47% year on year.
Light commercial vehicles (LCV):
The Renault brand, the clear market leader, posted a 4.4% increase in sales volumes. It placed four vehicles in the top 5, including Kangoo and Clio in the top two spots. Master (4th) and Trafic (5th) top the rankings in the van segment. Kangoo Z.E. is the indisputable leader in the electric LCV market with over 50% of the market.
Philippe Buros, Senior Vice President, Market Area France, Groupe Renault, said: "We have entirely renewed our range of passenger cars, and this is reflected in our results. New Koleos and Alaskan, recently launched on the French market, are off to a highly positive start. Groupe Renault's sales situation in France at end-September is good and promises a solid 2017, similar to last year."
