Graham Field (Southwell, Notts) has announced he will stay with reigning Champion team JamSport Racing for 2017’s Renault UK Clio Cup.

Field, aged 57, has been a keen competitor in the championship since 2012 with a best race result of 14th and a win in the Masters Cup category for older drivers (aged over 34) among his highlights to date…

He commented: “I’m no spring chicken but, just I benefited from having Ant Whorton-Eales as a team-mate in 2016, I look forward to learning from JamSport’s three very exciting young talents Nathan Harrison, Aaron Thompson and Lucas Orrock in 2017.

“A win or two in the Masters Cup would be lovely, but my main aim as always will be to improve my own personal performance. I love the competition the UK Clio Cup provides – it really keeps you young at heart – and I’ve seen some big gains in both my qualifying and overall race pace these past two seasons. I’m really determined to keep that going in 2017.”

JamSport Team Principal Jamie Going said: “Graham has been very much involved in our pre-season testing programme so far and it’s clear that the older he gets the more determined he gets! He’s actually been turning in some very respectable times and I’m sure he’s going to enjoy a good dice or two with some of his younger rivals on track this season.”

Renault Sport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes said: “Graham’s very warm character has made him one of the most liked characters on the grid in recent seasons and we’re very happy to see him again for our forthcoming season. Personal performance matters a lot to him and it’ll be interesting to see how much more he can improve in 2017.”

The 2017 Renault UK Clio Cup gets under way at the world famous circuit of Brands Hatch, Kent on Sat 1/Sun 2 April along with the opening rounds of this year’s British Touring Car Championship.

All 18 races on the UK Clio Cup calendar will take place at the BTCC’s high profile events meaning huge trackside crowds as well as live free-to-air TV coverage on ITV4 for its teams, drivers and sponsors.
