This year once again, Renault Sport Racing will offer an unique meeting for the Clio Cup competitors as they will battle at Circuit Paul Ricard during the French Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend (26-28 June).

Privileged partners of the French Grand Prix since its return to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Groupe Renault and Renault Sport Racing renew this season their support towards one of the biggest sporting events in France.

For the second consecutive year, competitors from all the Clio Cups organised across the globe will compete in a Clio Cup Open that will feature one free-practice, one qualifying session and two races in front of the motor racing elite, including Renault F1 Team.

Last year, this meeting and its prestigious setting enjoyed huge success both on and off the track with nearly 50 drivers from across Europe, Asia and the Middle East battling in front a large crowd won over by the non-stop action offered by the category.

Introduced during this very same event last year, New Clio Cup will add even more excitement in the Circuit Paul Ricard grandstands. Launched for the 55th season of the single-make cups initiated by the R8 Gordini Cup, the fifth generation of Clio Cup is more affordable, more dynamic and more popular than ever to create bigger grids and never-ending action from lights out to the chequered flag!

In addition to the Clio Cup, Renault Sport Racing will continue its mission to promote motorsport by strengthening the links between the spectators and the various actors to offer a truly unforgettable experience on its home turf.

Benoit Nogier, Commercial Racing Director, Renault Sport Racing Customer Racing: "Following the indisputable success we had in 2019, when nearly 50 competitors competed on the track, it was logical for Renault to repeat the operation in 2020. This Clio Cup Open is a reminder of Renault’s motor racing versatility in bringing together the Clio Cup and Formula 1 at the same event.”

Éric Boullier, Managing Director, GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet: “Groupe Renault has been an important partner of the Formula 1 French Grand Prix since its return in 2018. We share the same philosophy about competition, and we look forward to seeing all these drivers compete in intense battles. We are sure the spectators will love this fantastic show on the Circuit Paul Ricard Circuit track.”
