On the 2021 edition of the Trophées de l'argus, Renault's E-TECH hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology was awarded the Special Jury Prize.
A modular technology, unique on the hybrid market thanks to an ingenious transmission inspired by Formula 1.
In 2021, Renault's hybrid technology will be available in 6 versions on Clio, Captur, Arkana, Mégane and Mégane Estate.
Boulogne-Billancourt – January 29th, 2021. As every year, the L'argus jury honours a sporting exploit, a technology, a concept car or a commercial performance. On the 2021 edition, Renault's E-TECH hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology was unanimously acclaimed.
Developed and patented by Renault engineering, E-TECH hybrid technology combines two electric motors, a petrol engine and an ingenious transmission inspired by Formula 1, without a clutch or synchroniser. This unique system is also the fruit of the brand's expertise in electric mobility for more than 10 years.
Renault's hybrid technology allows up to 80% of electric driving in the city and up to 40% lower consumption on an E-TECH Hybrid engine. It allows up to 65 km of electric driving in the city (WLTP City) and to enjoy the pleasure of electric driving up to 135 km/h on an E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid engine.
By deploying this modular hybrid technology on its core range vehicles, Renault intends to democratise the electric experience and its advantages: systematic electric starting, responsiveness, battery regeneration during deceleration and braking, CO2 reduction and consumption savings. Launched in 2020, the E-TECH hybrid engines already power Clio in hybrid, Captur and Mégane Estate in rechargeable hybrids. Captur is thus the most accessible plug-in hybrid in the B-SUV segment. Three new versions will be added to the Renault range in 2021, with Arkana and Captur as a hybrid and Mégane as a plug-in hybrid.
The award, a trophy made from a camshaft, was handed over to Gilles Le Borgne, Groupe Renault's Engineering EVP, on behalf of all the teams involved in this innovative project.
