Renault Sport Racing acknowledges the decision to cancel the round scheduled to take place at Monza from the 16th to 19th of April. The 2020 Formula Renault Eurocup season will maintain ten dates, adding a meeting at the Hockenheimring from the 2nd to 4th of October.
The Italian public authorities and the event promoters have today confirmed the cancellation of the Monza meeting as part of the measures taken to limit the spread of COVID-19.
In order to preserve a prestigious calendar exclusively composed of F1-homologated tracks, the Formula Renault Eurocup will be in action, replacing the Italian event, at the Hockenheimring in Germany.
The first pre-season collective tests at Circuit Ricardo Tormo de Valencia (11-12 March) and at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (14-15 March) are scheduled to proceed as planned.
Benoît Nogier, Renault Sport Racing Commercial Racing Director: “Despite the disappointment of not going to Monza and Italy, the health and security of our competitors is our number one priority, both on and off the track. We thus support the cancelation of the meeting. We would like to thank SRO Motorsports Group for the transparency they have demonstrated in the exchanges with the public authorities and we are extremely grateful to the various parties who have allowed us to evaluate alternative options.”
